The Ukrainian Air Force Command has confirmed the loss of a Su-24M aircraft.

Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ihnat told this to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"The bomber aircraft supported offensive actions in the eastern direction, where it struck enemy positions. After completing its combat mission, it was hit by a missile," he said.

The crew decided to return to their base, but crashed in the Poltava region. Two pilots ejected, but one of them died. The command of the Air Force expresses its condolences to the relatives of the fallen hero.

On October 12, at around 09:00, a fighter jet of a tactical aviation brigade of the Ukrainian Air Force crashed near Vinnytsia. The pilot ejected successfully. On this day, the pilot destroyed five Shahed-136 suicide drones, including three in southern Ukraine and two over Vinnytsia. And the day before, during multiple missile strikes, he shot down two Russian cruise missiles. The causes of the plane crash are being established.
