AFU evacuates two children from kill zone in Vovchansk sector
The brigade stated this on social media, Ukrinform reports.
"Two boys born in 2019 and 2021 were staying in the combat zone together with their grandmother and father. It is important to note that the boys are effectively being taken out of the front-line zone for the second time: the family had already been evacuated earlier, but later the parents took the children back and returned," the military said.
According to the head of the civil-military cooperation section, callsign "Tykhyi," the father showed signs of alcohol intoxication at the time of the children's evacuation and refused to leave, while the grandmother agreed to accompany her grandsons to a safe place.
"In three years of my work in civil-military cooperation, this is the first such case. After informing the boys about the need to evacuate the children, I did not even hear a question about where we were going. Everyone was ready and determined," "Tykhyi" said.
After the evacuation, the children and their grandmother were handed over to representatives of the juvenile prevention unit of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kharkiv region.
"The brigade once again wants to emphasize that staying in settlements where mandatory evacuation has been announced is unacceptable. Parents or legal guardians who put children at risk in a combat zone also face criminal liability under the law. We urge residents of front-line settlements not to delay evacuation and not to expose themselves and their children to mortal danger," the 57th Brigade said.
As reported, in December 2025 three children were evacuated from Kupiansk in Kharkiv region, where fighting is ongoing; the youngest was only two years old.
