Ninety-eight miners remain trapped underground in Kryvyi Rih due to enemy shelling

Ninety-eight miners, who are remaining trapped underground due to a power outage caused by Russia’s shelling of Kryvyi Rih, are expected to be rescued before 02:00 a.m., October 11, 2022.

The relevant statement was made by Kryvyi Rih Military Administration Head Oleksandr Vilkul on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to Vilkul, a total of 854 coal miners were trapped in four mines underground, as Russians launched a missile attack on Kryvyi Rih. Now the challenging rescue operation is near completion.

A reminder that, on October 10, 2022, Russian troops fired 18 missiles at the Dnipropetrovsk region. Five of them were shot down by the Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense units. Three Russian missiles were fired at the city of Kryvyi Rih. One of them was shot down, but two enemy projectiles hit the targets.
