One killed in plane crash in Zaporizhia region

An An-26 transport aircraft that crashed in the Zaporizhia region early on Friday belonged to Ukraine. One person is known to have died in the crash.

The regional military administration reported this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

"An An-26 plane crashed today, at 09:00, in the area of Mykhailivka, Zaporizhia district. According to preliminary information, the aircraft belonged to Ukraine. The aircraft was performing a technical flight," the statement read.

One person was killed and two were injured in the crash. The number of crewmembers and the reasons behind the accident are being clarified.

According to preliminary and unconfirmed information, the plane hit an electric pole, which caused the engine to catch fire. The State Emergency Service and concerned agencies are working at the scene.
