According to preliminary data, 10 people were killed and 11 more were injured in the shelling of Kharkiv region over the past day.

"The Russians again attack the civilian population. During the day, the occupiers fired on the civilian infrastructure of Balakliya and Pisochyn, and there was heavy shelling of Zolochiv and Derhachi. Unfortunately, there are killed and injured civilians. As of now, we know about 11 victims. Ten people were killed, including one child," Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Synehubov posted on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

He added that Izium town remained the hottest spot. The Ukrainian army holds the positions, not allowing large forces to be redeployed to Luhansk and Donetsk regions.

"Our Armed Forces are firmly holding the defense of Kharkiv, we fully control the situation. We evacuate [the residents of] Lozova and Barvinkove in the region," Synehubov added.

On February 24, Russian president Putin declared war on Ukraine and launched a large-scale invasion. Russian troops shell and destroy infrastructure, massively fire on residential areas of Ukrainian cities, towns, and villages using artillery, MLRS, and ballistic missiles.

Martial law was imposed, and general mobilization was announced in Ukraine.
