An AI-powered turret designed to intercept enemy drones, developed by a participant in the Brave1 defense tech cluster, is already being used in combat conditions.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced this on Facebook, who also released corresponding footage, Ukrinform reports.

"For the first time, video footage shows real combat operation of the turret against enemy drones. Cooperation with Brave1 and the military made it possible to go from drawings to the frontline in the shortest possible time," the minister said.

Fedorov stressed that the Russian army continues to use drones to attack along the line of contact and in frontline areas. To protect both military personnel and civilians, Ukraine’s defense sector is developing a low-altitude air defense system.

The AI turret developed by a Brave1 participant is one of the new technological solutions. The system autonomously detects, tracks, and calculates the trajectory of an enemy drone. The operator only needs to confirm engagement with a single button press. The technology also enables the destruction of fiber-optic drones, which are resistant to electronic warfare systems.

The turret was first used in combat by soldiers of the K-2 brigade. It is now deployed across more than ten units on key frontline sectors.

The next step is scaling up the system and strengthening low-altitude air defense.

"This is another element of the system we are building to maximize the detection and interception of enemy aerial targets," Fedorov said.
