For almost two hours in a row, Russian troops were bombing and firing on civilian infrastructure facilities in Okhtyrka, Sumy region. As a result of the shelling, 1 person was killed and 14 more were injured, but these figures are not final.

"As a result of shelling of civilian infrastructure, not military as Russian propaganda points out, one person was killed and 14 more were wounded. However, the figures are not final, it is difficult to count the victims. Not everyone was found..." Dmytro Zhyvytskyi, Head of Sumy Regional Military Administration, posted on Telegram.

Okhtyrka daily buries its defenders, who died as a result of the bombing of a military unit on February 25 by the troops of the Russian Federation. On the first day of Lent, locals paid their last respects to three more killed soldiers.

Earlier, Okhtyrka Mayor Pavlo Kuzmenko spoke about the "military facilities" being destroyed by the Russian army: "Railway station, building of the executive committee, local history museum, local department store and all the trade premises were completely destroyed, many people were injured, not all of them were found. Combined heat and power station is shut down, there is no electricity.  Sewer collector is destroyed, there is partially no water supply. Many transmission towers are destroyed. We have been clearing out the blockages that occurred after air bomb was dropped."

On February 24, Russian president Putin launched a large-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops kill civilians, shell and destroy key infrastructure, and missiles hit Ukrainians' homes.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on general mobilization.

Ukraine officially filed a lawsuit against the Russian Federation at the UN International Court of Justice in The Hague.
