Since the onset of Russian invasion of Ukraine, as many as two million people have fled the war.

The UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, wrote about this on Twitter, according to Ukrinform.

"Today the outflow of refugees from Ukraine reaches two million people. Two million," he said.

The BBC notes that Grandi previously called the exodus of Ukrainian refugees from the country the swiftest Europe has seen since World War 2.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared war on Ukraine and launched a large-scale invasion. Russian troops have been killing civilians, shelling and destroying key infrastructure, and their missiles have been hitting Ukrainian households.

Martial law was imposed in Ukraine and general mobilization was announced.
