Ukraine should focus on attracting private capital - Marchenko

The Ministry of Finance believes that, despite stable financial support from international partners, Ukraine should focus on private capital.

This was stated by Minister of Finance Serhii Marchenko, who spoke at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin on Tuesday, reports an Ukrinform correspondent.

"The EUR 50 billion that we have mobilized for the next three years at the European level already indicate a significant increase (of international financial aid - ed.). Interest from frozen potential assets may bring another EUR 50 billion," Marchenko said.

The minister emphasized Ukraine’s positive tendency to attract international financial aid, but for the country, especially in the context of its reconstruction, it is necessary to seek private capital and mobilize it.

As reported, the U.S. is ready to provide Ukraine with a $50 billion loan at the expense of profits from frozen Russian assets – that is if the European Union extends sanctions against Russia indefinitely.
