The participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in competitions is not contributing to peace and development in the world.

Andriy Yermak, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, reported this on Twitter, according to Ukrinform.

"On the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, I want to remind everyone once again that the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes does not contribute to peace and development. They are the world champions in terrorism. Justice must prevail. There is no place for terrorists in the sports world," Yermak wrote.

An event to honor Ukrainian athletes and coaches who died amid Russia's invasion of Ukraine took place in Kyiv on April 6, the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.

As many as 228 Ukrainian athletes and coaches have been killed since the beginning of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine.
