Usyk defeats Gassiev, holds all cruiserweight belts

Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk earned a bright victory over Russian Murat Gassiev at the Olympic Stadium in Moscow on the night of Saturday to Sunday.

Usyk became the first man to unify the WBC, WBO, WBA, IBF world cruiserweight belts, hold the Ring Magazine title, the Muhammad Ali Trophy and win $10 million in prize money, Ukrinform reports.

The Ukrainian boxer dominated during 12 rounds and won the fight on points (120-108, 119-109, 119-109).

This final match of the World Boxing Super Series (WBSS) was to take place on May 11 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, but was postponed until a later date due to Usyk's injury. In the quarterfinals of the WBSS tournament, the Ukrainian knocked out German Marco Huck in Berlin, and in the semifinals he beat Latvian Mairis Briedis on points in Riga.
