Kyiv police find body of man resembling 'Karavan mall shooter'

KYIV, November 7 /UKRINFORM/. A body of a man resembling the suspect in the killing of security guards in the Karavan shopping center, Yaroslav Mazurok, has been found on November 7 in Kyiv. According to preliminary findings, the cause of death was suicide, the Interior Ministry's press office said in a statement on Wednesday.

“A resident of Kyiv has reported the police that he found a dead man when he was walking his dog in the morning. Investigators immediately went to the scene, and stated the recent death of a man that looks like Mazurok, who died of a gunshot wound,” the ministry noted.

In the clothes of the man the policemen found a passport, and weapons. Experts and investigators are on the scene now to figure out where the man was hiding. DNA testing has been ordered to determine whether the discovered body belongs to Yaroslav Mazurok.

As reported, on September 26 an identified man shot dead three security guards and seriously wounded another one in the Karavan shopping and entertainment center in Kyiv.

On October 5, Interior Minister Vitaliy Zakharchenko said Yaroslav Mazurok, a native of Lviv region, is suspected of killing three security guards in the Karavan shopping mall in Kyiv. He added that Mazurok, born in 1974, had previously worked at a private security firm.

On October 10, Mazurok was put on Interpol's wanted list.
