Finland to introduce air threat alert system modeled on Ukrainian application
According to Ukrinform, Yle stated this in an article.
"In Ukraine, people receive air threat warnings through a mobile application. Finland is also developing a similar system. At the same time, an SMS alert system is being created," the report says.
The SMS system will send emergency warnings, while the app will provide additional information in situations that require clarification.
"They have somewhat different purposes," said Jussi Korhonen from the preparedness department of Finland's Interior Ministry.
According to preliminary data, development of the app will continue until the end of 2027, though it may be released earlier. The SMS system is more complex and will require more time to develop. It is expected that emergency SMS alerts will also reach users who do not have smartphones.
As Ukrinform previously reported, Alexander Stubb stated that there was no military threat after several drones were detected in the country on March 29. It was confirmed that one of them was of Ukrainian origin.
