Ukrainian rescuer killed battling massive fire after Russian attack in Kyiv region

“Today, after another massive Russian attack on our country, we once again suffered painful losses among the personnel of the State Emergency Service. While dealing with the aftermath of the enemy attack and extinguishing a large-scale fire at warehouse facilities in the town of Yahotyn, Kyiv region, a sudden collapse of structures occurred. As a result, firefighter-rescuer of the 22nd State Fire and Rescue Unit of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in the Kyiv region, Chief Master Sergeant, 30-year-old Mykhailo Protsenko, was killed – our brother-in-arms, a man of honor and dedication to the rescue mission. Mykhailo is survived by his wife and two young sons,” said Head of the State Emergency Service Andrii Danyk.

The commander of a unit of the 22nd State Fire and Rescue Unit, Master Sergeant Serhii Khobotnia, aged 49, was also injured. He is currently under medical supervision.
As reported by Ukrinform, as a result of the Russian attack on February 7, a logistics center of the Roshen confectionery factory in Yahotyn, Kyiv region, was almost completely destroyed.
