Government and Naftogaz provide targeted assistance to vulnerable groups amid energy crisis
This was announced by Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.
She noted that the first 10,000 “Warmth Packages” have already been distributed to residents of Kyiv and the surrounding region, where the situation is most difficult. This primarily concerns the Darnytskyi, Desnianskyi, and Dniprovskyi districts of the capital, as well as Boryspil and Brovary.
The package contains items that will help people get through the cold period: keep warm, stay connected, and charge medical devices.
The head of government stressed that due to the unprecedented strikes by the Russian army on the energy infrastructure, as well as severe frosts, the situation in the energy system remains difficult today.
As reported by Ukrinform, on the morning of January 31, a technological disruption between the energy systems of Romania, Moldova, and Ukraine caused a cascade shutdown in the Ukrainian power grid, triggering automatic protections at substations.
The most serious consequences were felt in Kyiv and Central Ukraine, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Vinnytsia, and Sumy regions.
On the night of February 1, the high-voltage line connecting Ukraine and Moldova was repaired.
As of the afternoon of February 1, 693 buildings in Kyiv remain without heating following the emergency situation in the country's power grid.
