Testing of 5G technology has begun in Borodianka, Kyiv region.

According to Ukrinform, this was announced by Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine Oleksiy Kuleba on Telegram.

Borodianka has become the second settlement after Lviv where new-generation communication base stations are operating in the central part.

“For us, this is more than just internet speed. We are rebuilding Borodianka comprehensively, including residential buildings, schools, kindergartens, medical facilities, modernizing heating, water, and electricity networks, implementing energy-efficient solutions and accessibility,” Kuleba emphasized.

According to him, more than 600 facilities have already been restored in Borodianka: 25 apartment buildings, 570 private houses, 5 educational institutions, and 4 other public buildings. Meanwhile, 9 new high-rise buildings are under construction and scheduled for completion in 2026.

Work is continuing on a “safe city” system with video surveillance and modern lighting. Modern public transport powered by solar energy is being introduced.

Kuleba noted that Borodianka could become one of the first communities in Ukraine to implement full-fledged Smart City solutions, including intelligent lighting, security, and transport management systems.

"Restoration is not only about housing and infrastructure, but also about the economy. The number of businesses in the community is growing, and conditions are being created for new investments and jobs. This is what comprehensive recovery is all about: When people return not to ruins, but to an environment where they can live, work, and raise children—with modern infrastructure, communications, and opportunities for development," Kuleba emphasized.

As reported by Ukrinform, a 5G pilot project was launched in Lviv on January 12. The project was launched in test mode by mobile operators Kyivstar, Vodafone, and Lifecell.
