Medic and musician Mykola Dziak dies from combat wounds

The musician joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion as a lieutenant in the medical service. In December 2025, he was critically wounded while performing a combat task.

Doctors fought for the defender’s life, but he passed away on January 27.

“The community of musicians in our city [Dnipro – ed.] is very small, and everyone knows each other well. Mykola was a huge part of that community. Remember him,” wrote musician and serviceman Mykyta Kozachynskyi.

Mykola Dziak was born on February 7, 1985. From 2002 to 2008, he studied at the Dnipro Medical Academy, majoring in preventive medicine. He also completed military training and received the rank of junior lieutenant of the medical service in the reserve. In 2008, he began working as a medical intern in Dnipro.

From 2009 to 2012, Mykola pursued postgraduate studies in general hygiene. Since 2013, he worked as a lecturer at the Department of Hygiene and Ecology.

In 2016, he defended his PhD dissertation in ecology. More than 37 scientific and methodological works were published based on his research.

From 2008 to 2015, Mykola was the soloist of the Secret of the Third Planet, and since 2011 he had been the soloist of the House of Griboyedov.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, Yurii Mihashko, a director of television projects at the Starlight Production media group, was killed on the Sumy direction of the front.
