Rescuer who was hit by second Russian strike on Kyiv on January 9 dies in hospital

A 36-year-old rescuer from the State Emergency Service, Oleksandr Zibrov, who was hit by a second Russian strike on January 9 in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, died in hospital from his injuries.

According to Ukrinform, the State Emergency Service reported this on Facebook.

"Another difficult day for the State Emergency Service family: Unfortunately, after 18 days of fighting for his life, our colleague, 36-year-old firefighter and rescuer Oleksandr Zibrov of the 24th State Fire and Rescue Unit, who, along with his colleagues, was hit by a second Russian strike on January 9 in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, has passed away," said Andrii Danyk, head of the State Emergency Service.

“The enemy took another life of a brave and courageous firefighter, a loving husband, and caring father. He was severely injured while protecting people despite the terrible danger,” Danyk added.

As reported by Ukrinform, 31-year-old rescuer and climber Oleksandr Pytaichuk died in Kyiv during emergency repair work at one of the energy facilities.
