Leading Lithuanian universities have joined the Global Coalition of Ukrainian Studies, an initiative to study Ukraine and Ukrainian studies in educational institutions around the world, which already brings together 60 institutions in 23 countries.

This was reported by the Office of the President, according to Ukrinform.

During her visit to Lithuania, Ukraine's First Lady Olena Zelenska met with representatives of Lithuanian universities: Vytautas Magnus University, Mykolas Romeris University, Klaipėdos University, and Vilnius Gediminas Technical University.

"Russian imperial narratives continue to operate in many countries and shape public opinion in the Kremlin. This is why Ukrainian studios are needed: they will convey the truth about Ukraine from Ukraine itself. They will tell about the centuries of oppression that Ukraine and Lithuania experienced under the empire, about the difficult path of languages that were tried to be erased and Russified, about the deportation of entire peoples, in particular about the fate of Crimea and its people, who have suffered and are still suffering from new Russian repressions," the first lady emphasized.

In addition, the first ladies of Lithuania and Ukraine visited the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Vilnius together. It has been operating under their patronage for almost four years.

"The Ukrainian Cultural Center in Lithuania is unique. Nowhere else in the world is there such a center, patronized at the level of both states. And my gratitude to Lithuania is endless. I would like to thank, in particular, Vytautas Magnus University, which provided the center with premises, and my colleague Ms. Diana personally," said the wife of the President of Ukraine.

Since its establishment in June 2022, more than 4,600 events have been held at the center. Every day, classes for children and adults, cultural and sports and health events, language courses, a Ukrainian Saturday school, and a children's camp in the summer are held here. Meetings are also held here that bring together the international community in support of Ukraine.

As reported by Ukrinform, Ukraine's First Lady Olena Zelenska met with the First Ladies of Lithuania and Poland, Diana Nausėdienė and Marta Nawrocka, in Vilnius.
