Pope Leo appeals for peace in Ukraine during Sunday prayer

Ukrinform
During his Sunday prayer, Pope Leo XIV urged renewed efforts to end the war in Ukraine and reiterated his appeal for prayers for peace in the country.

The Vatican News reported this as cited by Ukrinform.

Speaking at St. Peter’s Square, the Pope highlighted the suffering of Ukrainians, noting that “even in these days, Ukraine continues to be struck by relentless attacks, leaving entire populations exposed to the cold of winter.”

“I follow what is happening with sorrow, I am close to those who suffer, and I pray for them. I urge everyone to intensify their efforts to end the war,” the pontiff said.

He also emphasized that the prolonged conflict is causing “ever more serious consequences for civilians, widens the rift between peoples and pushes a just and lasting peace further away.”
