Bad weather in Ukraine: Government proposes switching to remote learning and work
Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
According to her, the Ministry of Education and Science, together with other central executive bodies, regional and Kyiv city military administrations, must urgently consider suspending in-person educational processes and switching to remote learning or extending the winter holidays at least until January 19, 2026.
This applies to preschool institutions, general secondary, vocational and professional pre-higher education institutions, and higher education institutions.
Decisions will be taken promptly, taking into account the conclusions of the State Commission on Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergencies and the actual situation in each region.
Regional and Kyiv city military administrations, together with emergency commissions, are also recommended to consider switching enterprises, institutions, and organizations to remote work during the period of severe weather conditions, depending on the situation in each region.
"These recommendations do not apply to critical infrastructure facilities and other entities for which remote work is unacceptable under martial law," Svyrydenko said.
Local self-government bodies are recommended to take these decisions into account within their powers.
"Our priority is people's safety, protecting children's health, and ensuring the stable operation of critical systems," Svyrydenko said.
Earlier reports said that weather conditions remain difficult in seven regions of Ukraine, and traffic restrictions are in place.
