Since beginning of full-scale war, 364 artists and media workers killed in Ukraine

As a result of Russia’s full-scale invasion, 245 artists and 119 media workers, including foreigners, have been killed in Ukraine.

This was reported by the Ministry of Culture, according to Ukrinform.

The Ministry emphasizes that these figures not only reflect the scale of losses but also serve as a reminder of tragic chapters in Ukrainian history. Just as in the 1920s and early 1930s, the Stalinist regime killed a generation of Ukrainian artists; today, Russia is deliberately targeting Ukraine’s cultural elite.

“Today we are once again losing not just talented Ukrainians, but a part of our soul, as each artist is a unique individual who enriched Ukrainian culture,” the Ministry stated.

As Ukrinform previously reported, front-line photographer Yurii Kostyshyn from Ternopil, known by the pseudonym “Kit Kharyakternyk,” was killed on the front.

Since 2023, Yurii’s front-line photographs have been exhibited in Ukraine and abroad; the artist held solo exhibitions in Lviv, Ternopil, Kyiv, and Vilnius (Lithuania).
