Ukraine developing ‘return case management’ for citizens coming back from abroad – Ministry of Social Policy
Deputy Minister of Social Policy Ilona Havronska announced this during the All-Ukrainian Forum of Social Change Leaders, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
She explained that the Ministry of Social Policy is preparing for March 2027 — the date until which the EU’s Temporary Protection Directive for Ukrainians has currently been extended.
“We already need to prepare so that people can make an informed decision about what they will do when their temporary protection is either transitioned to the national mechanisms of the countries where they are staying, or when they choose to use a voluntary return program. And communities will become partners for those who return,” Havronska stressed.
The deputy minister noted that a “return case-management” system is currently being developed.
“It will likely not be ready before the end of next year, but that will be closer to the time when it will be needed most — in March 2027, when temporary protection for Ukrainians in EU countries may come to an end,” she added.
As reported by Ukrinform, by the end of 2026 the Unity Network for Ukrainians Abroad will cover all EU countries.
