Thanks to the financial support of the German government, on August 10, St. Luke's Hospital in Lviv will receive a modern magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner made by Philips.

This was reported to Ukrinform by the office of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).

"This device will significantly improve and speed up diagnostic capabilities for patients in the region. It provides high image quality and also reduces maintenance costs due to the complete sealing of the magnets used. The very low consumption of helium allows for significant savings and contributes to the sustainability of the hospital," GIZ noted.

Moreover, the MRI machine is additionally equipped with a powerful UPS battery capable of coping with an unexpected power outage and ensuring continuous operation for 30 minutes without compromising the quality of patient care.

The purchase and installation of the new MRI machine was carried out under the Special Support Program for Ukraine/EU4ResilientRegions, as well as the purchase of other high-tech medical equipment and solar panels.

The total cost of the new equipment is EUR 1.5 million.
