Ten military administrations could be created in Crimea after its de-occupation - Tasheva

Tamila Tasheva, the Ukrainian president's permanent representative in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, said this during a round table discussion entitled "Three years of the new administrative and territorial system of Ukraine: successes, challenges and prospects," Ukrinform reports, citing the Mission of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

According to the report, Tasheva talked about the need to make changes to the legislation that would solve the problems in the creation of military administrations in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and help define territorial communities on the peninsula.

"In particular, it is about the expediency of forming ten district military administrations in accordance with the new division, which is a simpler process and will require fewer resources than the formation of 14 administrations of 'old' districts," the Mission said.

Tasheva also emphasized the importance of revising the approach to the decentralization process in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea in order to build an effective management system after de-occupation, and to illustrate to the population the progress of reforms that have taken place in Ukraine for nine years.

"Decentralization and the capacity of communities are an important element for the establishment of democracy and the involvement of the people in the management of the state. This process must be effective in Crimea, too. For this purpose, today it is necessary to adopt legislative initiatives that will not limit the effect of the reform on the territory of the peninsula after its de-occupation," she said.
