Ukraine's Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova and representatives of the U.S. Department of State have discussed the issues of combating corruption and criminal justice reform, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office has said.

During a business trip to the United States, Venediktova met with Todd Robinson, Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, the report said.

The Bureau is working to address issues related to drug trafficking, the fight against transnational crime and corruption, and the strengthening of criminal justice institutions around the world.

Venediktova spoke about the results of the reform of the prosecutor's office and further plans to transform the institution. She noted that after the personnel certification of prosecutors at all levels, the optimization of processes and large-scale digitalization of the prosecutor's office is underway.

She also noted that the competition for the selection of the new head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office is currently coming to an end. "A new impetus for the entire law enforcement system in this area was the International Anti-Corruption Forum recently held by the Prosecutor General's Office," the statement said.

Both parties agreed that uniting efforts to fight corruption and promote criminal justice reforms, including the development of specialization of prosecutors, will help strengthen security and justice in the two countries.
