Some 48% of Ukrainians are against the idea of introducing dual/multiple citizenship in Ukraine, while 24% support this possibility, according to a poll conducted by the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation together with the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology from October 22 to November 12.

The survey found that 24% of respondents back the possibility of introducing dual (multiple) citizenship for all countries without exception.

Some 11% of those polled support this idea if dual citizenship is allowed only with EU and NATO member states, and 7% can support the introduction of such citizenship with all countries except Russia.

At the same time, almost 5% of respondents are in favor of dual citizenship only with the former Soviet republics.

Only 5% of respondents were undecided.

The nationwide survey was conducted by the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation jointly with the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology at the request of the Institute for Central European Strategy as part of the special project Re:Open Zakarpattia.

The survey was conducted via computer-assisted telephone interviews based on a random sample of mobile phone numbers in all regions of Ukraine, except for territories that are temporarily not controlled by the Ukrainian authorities – Crimea and certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Respondents aged 18 years and older were interviewed. Some 2,003 questionnaires were collected during the field stage.

The poll's margin of error does not exceed 2.4% for figures close to 50%, 2.1% for figures close to 25%, and 1.5% for figures close to 10%.

On December 2, President Volodymyr Zelensky tabled in the Verkhovna Rada a number of bills aimed at countering threats to national security in the field of citizenship.
