The average monthly air temperature in Kyiv city in January was -2.5 °C, which exceeds the updated climatic norm (1991-2020) by 0.7 °C, the Central Geophysical Observatory named after Borys Sreznevskyi reported.

In particular, January 20 turned out to be the coldest day of the month, when the temperature dropped to -20.2 °C in the morning, and January 24 was the warmest, when the temperature rose to +8.6 °C.

"Climatologists have recorded nine temperature records in Kyiv during the month,” reads the report.

In January, precipitation on Nauky Avenue was 63 mm, which amounted to almost two monthly climatic norms.

As reported, last year in Kyiv became the hottest in the history of meteorological observations, setting 36 temperature records.
