More than a third of internally displaced persons (38%) are not ready to return to their homes after the end of hostilities in eastern Ukraine, according to the National Monitoring System Report on the Situation of Internally Displaced Persons for September 2018, which was made available to Ukrinform.

"[In September 2018] the portion of those intending to return to their place of origin after the end of the conflict amounted to 24% of respondents. At the same time, 38% of the respondents expressed their intention not to return, even after the end of the conflict," the report shows.

Compared to the previous round of the survey conducted in June 2018, the number of IDPs who are ready to return to Donbas after the end of the conflict has decreased from 28% to 24%. At the same time, in September 2017, the number of such respondents was 32%.

The number of those who are not ready to return to Donbas under any conditions has been 38% for the third round in a row. Some 14% of respondents chose the answer "yes, maybe in the future" during the last round of the survey, while in the previous round such an answer was chosen by 12%, and 17% of respondents chose this answer in September 2017.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), in cooperation with Ukraine's Ministry for Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons, on December 13 presented another round of the National Monitoring System Report on the Situation of IDPS in Ukraine. During the survey, people were interviewed about their level of employment, welfare, access to social services, and the level of integration into local communities.

The study of the National Monitoring System is conducted by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations Agency for Migration.
