Council of Europe warns against political interference in selecting members of National Public Broadcasting Company management board

The independence of the Management Board of the National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine (NBPU) is of crucial importance for advancing the reform in line with the European standards.
This is said in the statement by Special Advisor to Council of Europe’s Secretary General for Ukraine Regis Brillat released on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"The Council of Europe supports Ukraine in the public broadcasting reform and welcomes the progress achieved. The process for selecting the head and members of the Management Board of the National Public Broadcasting Unit (NBPU) should be transparent and free of political interference," the statement reads.
Brillat has also stressed that ensuring independence of the NBPU Supervisory Board is of crucial importance for advancing the reform in line with the European standards.
