U.S. Senators warn against undermining anti-corruption progress in Ukraine

Senator Jeanne Shaheen (Democrat, Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee) and Senator Lindsey Graham (Republican) have expressed concerns that the newly passed law reducing the powers of Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) threatens to undermine much of Ukraine’s anti-corruption progress.

Sweden voices concern over restrictions on NABU, SAPO independence

Law reducing NABU and SAPO powers comes into force

The official newspaper of the Verkhovna Rada, Holos Ukrainy, has published Law No. 4555-IX, "On the Introduction of Amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine Regarding the Specifics of Pre-Trial Investigations into Criminal Offenses Related to the Disappearance of Persons Under Special Circumstances During Martial Law."


Zelensky approves Ukrainian delegation for Istanbul talks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has approved the composition of Ukraine's delegation for upcoming negotiations in Turkey, which will be led by National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Secretary Rustem Umerov. Zelensky signs law undermining independence of NABU, SAPO

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a law concerning the specifics of pre-trial investigations into criminal offenses related to the disappearance of persons under special circumstances during martial law. The legislation significantly reduces the powers and effectively strips the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) of their independence.
