The Ukrainian leader shared details of the meeting on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

"I met with Moldova's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mihai Popșoi. I was pleased to welcome the Minister to Ukraine's annual meeting of ambassadors. His presence reflects the fact that Ukraine and Moldova share many foreign policy priorities, particularly in the areas of security and European aspirations. It is important that we continue moving forward together across the full range of our shared objectives," Zelensky said.

He also noted that the two sides discussed a number of practical projects that can and should be implemented, including in infrastructure and energy.

"For us, these are first and foremost matters of security and mutual assistance. I am grateful to Moldova for its consistent support for our people and our defense," Zelensky said.

As reported, Moldova was granted EU candidate status in June 2022. Accession negotiations were formally launched in June 2024.

On June 15, 2026, during the second conference on Moldova's accession to the EU, the European Union and Moldova opened negotiations on Cluster 1, "Fundamentals." The same day, a similar step was taken regarding Ukraine.
