Zelensky discusses needs for urgent air defense missiles delivery with Rutte
President Volodymyr Zelensky, on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara, held a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, during which they discussed the need for urgent delivery of missiles for air defense systems and contributions from Alliance countries to the PURL program.

The head of state said this on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

"I thank Mark Rutte for his personal support and for helping Ukraine and our people. I briefed Mark on the consequences of Russia's attacks on Ukrainian cities and communities. We discussed the protection of our people from Russian ballistic threats and the need for urgent deliveries of missiles for air defense systems. A separate part of our discussion focused on additional contributions from Allied countries to the PURL initiative and efforts to establish an Anti-Ballistic Coalition," Zelensky noted.

According to him, the meeting also addressed joint weapons production and the strengthening of defense cooperation between Ukraine and NATO countries. "Right now, it is critically important that every channel supporting our air defense – both bilateral and multilateral – operate at full capacity," the President emphasized.

For his part, Rutte noted the success of Ukrainian soldiers on the front lines, who are inflicting heavy losses on Russia, as well as the results of Ukrainian long-range strikes.

As reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Ankara on July 7 to participate in the summit of NATO member-state leaders.
