Kallas on peace talks: Even if US and Russia agree on something, they can not implement it without Europe

EU High Representative Kaja Kallas emphasized the importance of Europe’s role in the peace process regarding Ukraine.

She stated this at a press conference held during an off-site informal meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

Kallas noted that even if America and Russia agreed on something, they would not be able to implement it, as Europe was not part of the process. She added that the sooner it was recognized that Europe also needed to be included in the discussion, the better the negotiations could be advanced.

As Ukrinform previously reported, on Tuesday, March 31, Kallas arrived in Kyiv together with EU ministers to honor the memory of victims of the Russian occupation in Bucha.

The High Representative stressed that the EU seeks to ensure accountability for crimes committed in Bucha at the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
