Zelensky: Iran poses threat to stability and shipping
Volodymyr Zelensky stated this in his evening address, according to Ukrinform.
"In recent days, we have been communicating very actively with representatives of countries in the Middle East and the Gulf region – and it is clear what their main request to Ukraine is. Everyone facing attacks from Iran confronts an extraordinary challenge: 'shaheds,' which are difficult to shoot down without the proper expertise and adequate weaponry," he said.
According to him, in just a few days, Iran has launched more than 800 missiles and over 1,400 drones at neighboring countries, and the attacks continue constantly.
"Although the intensity of missile strikes from Iran has partially decreased now, a new threat has emerged – the Iranian regime's intent to block the Strait of Hormuz," Zelensky noted.
He emphasized that because of this threat, energy prices are destabilized in many markets. Ukraine is discussing this issue with international partners, including European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
"It is crucial to protect people's lives. It is crucial to restore stability and prevent the war from expanding," he urged.
Zelensky stressed that the Iranian regime must not benefit from destabilization, and that the common interest of states is to help people defend themselves and restore stability in the critical supply of energy resources as quickly as possible.
As Ukrinform reported, Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine is ready to provide assistance to Middle Eastern countries in stabilizing the situation and protecting civilians in response to the threat of Iranian strike drones and missiles.
