The Czech Republic recognizes the importance of supporting Ukraine, as demonstrated by citizens raising 7 billion Czech korunas for Ukraine since the start of the war.

This was stated by Miloš Vystrčil, President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, at the conference “Russian Aggression Against Europe: Ukraine’s Defense of Europe After Four Years of War”, organized by the Senate on February 23, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Over 7 billion korunas have been donated by our citizens directly or through organizations. This is incredible. It can be compared to what the previous government did,” Vystrčil said, adding that it would be good if the current government continued this support.

He emphasized that a secure space is created through joint efforts, and partners must be reliable so that everyone can count on one another.

“We must help those fighting for their freedom. If we lose our willingness to make even small sacrifices now, we risk losing everything later,” the politician stressed.

Vasyl Zvarych, Ukraine’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic, thanked Czech citizens and volunteers for providing crucial military, medical, and humanitarian aid, as well as for documenting Russian crimes. He stressed that helping Ukraine is not charity – it is in the interest of Czechia and all of Europe, an investment in their security.

“We… see how much lies are spreading to discourage Europe from helping Ukraine… Some claim that helping Ukraine supposedly prolongs the war, but in reality, failing to help not only prolongs it – it risks bringing the war to your own home,” the Ambassador said.

He added that the world still lacks the resolve to stop Russia, which has already launched a war against Europe and America, with Ukraine being only a part of its broader strategy to divide the world.

“Take my words as a warning. Ukrainians are holding the front lines to give you time… Ukraine will not lose this war!” he declared.

The conference was attended by Czech politicians, representatives of Czech organizations supporting Ukraine, and Ukrainian veteran Artem, for whom Czechs are raising funds for hand prostheses. The event also featured an exhibition of icons painted on artillery shell crates.

As previously reported, a large pro-Ukraine rally took place in Prague on Saturday.
