Parliament receives presidential motion to dismiss Maliuk as SBU chief

The Verkhovna Rada has received a motion from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to dismiss Vasyl Maliuk from the post of head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

Verkhovna Rada Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk announced this on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

"The Verkhovna Rada has received a motion from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to dismiss Vasyl Maliuk from the post of head of the Security Service of Ukraine," he said.

Stefanchuk said that the parliament would consider the document in the near future in accordance with the established procedure.

As reported, the Verkhovna Rada has also received resignation letters from Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal and First Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov.

Earlier, Maliuk announced that he was stepping down as chief of the Security Service of Ukraine.
