Security guarantees for over 15 years: Zelensky hopes for decision during meeting with Trump

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said this at a meeting with journalists, Ukrinform reports.

"As for whether there has been progress in negotiations on security guarantees for more than 15 years: in December, [during our meeting] at Mar-a-Lago, I raised this issue. The President of the United States took a pause on it and said it would be considered," Zelensky said.

He expressed hope to receive an answer during his next meeting with Trump.

"I think I will meet with him soon. I believe I will have a meeting in Washington, or maybe somewhere else – we will see what plans the President has. And I think there I will be able to get an answer to this question," Zelensky said.

As reported, on December 28, 2025, a meeting between Presidents Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump took place at Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.
