Zelensky on peace process: There are documents that will be ready for signing in January
The head of state said this while answering journalists' questions, Ukrinform reports.
"There are documents that will definitely be ready for signing in January. This depends on the capabilities and the willingness of the parties to sign them," Zelensky said in response to a question from an Ukrinform correspondent.
He stressed that for the negotiations to be successfully concluded, he is ready to meet with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
"We believe that in January there is an opportunity for a joint meeting of the leaders of Europe, the United States, and Ukraine. And we have raised the issue of a meeting with the Russians. I told President Trump and European leaders, and I am confirming it again now: 'I am ready for any format of a meeting with Putin. I am not afraid of any format of our meeting. The main thing is that the Russians are not afraid'," Zelensky said.
He also clarified that the sixth document currently under negotiation is a step-by-step plan for implementing the peace agreement and security guarantees.
"Of the six documents, as I said, the sixth document is precisely the plan that we are proposing for discussion," he said.
As previously reported, after talks in Berlin on December 16, Zelensky said that five documents related to ending the war had been discussed. Some of them concern security guarantees, while others address postwar recovery.
