Sybiha: Russia continues to intensify its information war

Ukrinform
Russia is betting heavily on disinformation because it cannot win on the battlefield. In particular, despite overall budget cuts, Russian state spending on propaganda will increase by 54%.

As reported by Ukrinform, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated this in comments published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Facebook.

Sybiha emphasized that Russia continues to strengthen its information warfare. Despite a certain reduction in military spending in the 2026 state budget, funding for propaganda will rise by an unprecedented 54%.

"This clearly demonstrates the priorities of the aggressor state: unable to win on the battlefield, it focuses its main efforts on disinformation," Sybiha said.

The Foreign Ministry added that in today’s world, words are also weapons — especially in diplomacy. That is why strengthening information resilience remains one of Ukraine’s priorities for effectively defending its interests and countering Russian aggression in the information domain.
