Ukrainian, UAE defense officials discuss strengthening security of both states

Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with the United Arab Emirates Deputy Defense Minister, Staff Lieutenant General Ibrahim Nasser Al-Alawi, during which they discussed further cooperation to enhance the security of both states.

Shmyhal shared details of the meeting on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

He expressed gratitude to Ibrahim Nasser Al-Alawi for the UAE's humanitarian support.

"I emphasized the extremely important role the Emirates play in securing the release of Ukrainian prisoners of war. We highly value this partnership, which helps bring our people back home," Shmyhal said.

Both sides also discussed possible areas for expanding cooperation aimed at strengthening the security of Ukraine and the UAE.

Shmyhal thanked Ibrahim Nasser Al-Alawi for his visit and constructive dialogue.

President Volodymyr Zelensky stated earlier that several countries were ready to provide a platform for negotiations on ending the war, including Turkey, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Switzerland.
