Rubio to Lavrov: Russia must stop killings and agree to peace in Ukraine

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in New York, once again called for an end to the killings and for meaningful steps toward a peaceful settlement in Ukraine.

That is according to the U.S. Department of State, Ukrinform reports.

"The Secretary reiterated President Trump's call for the killing to stop and the need for Moscow to take meaningful steps toward a durable resolution of the Russia-Ukraine war," the State Department said.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly at UN headquarters in New York.

U.S. President Donald Trump said on September 23 that Ukraine is capable of regaining the occupied territories and possibly even "going further." He made the remarks following his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the General Assembly.
