Canada preparing new aid package for Ukraine – media

The Canadian government intends to announce a new aid package for Ukraine later this week.

The Canadian public broadcaster CBC News reported this, citing its sources, Ukrinform saw.

“The prime minister is expected to announce more support for Ukraine at the G7,” the report says.

It is noted that the Canadian government has previously allocated 2 billion Canadian dollars (about US$1.5 billion) for military assistance to Ukraine and expanding defense partnerships. “the government is expected to reveal tomorrow how much money from that bucket will go toward Ukraine, and what it will be used for,” CBC News claims.

A bilateral meeting between Mark Carney and Volodymyr Zelensky and a working breakfast on the topic “A Strong and Sovereign Ukraine” are also expected tomorrow, to which all leaders attending the summit are invited.

As reported, the two-day G7 summit will kick off today in the Canadian province of Alberta.
