U.S. President Donald Trump must persuade Vladimir Putin to abandon some "absurd demands," including the capture and demilitarization of the entire Ukraine or plans to seize additional Ukrainian territories during their talks on Tuesday.

This was stated by Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski after the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting, as reported by Ukrinform, citing Wnp.pl.

Sikorski wished Trump success in his negotiations with the Russian leader. He expressed hope that the U.S. President would prove to be as good a negotiator as he claims to be and that he would manage to convince Putin to abandon some of his "absurd demands." These include the desire to take control over or demilitarize all of Ukraine and plans to conquer additional Ukrainian territories in the future.

"We will measure the success of Trump's talks by the quality of the negotiated peace," Sikorski emphasized.

He stressed that peace talks would be a test for Russia and reminded that Ukraine agreed to a 30-day ceasefire, while Russia continues to make demands, which demonstrates that it "wants neither peace nor genuine peace negotiations."

"We are clear about who wants peace and who wants war. Russia will want to take over all of Ukraine by other means, and ideally, neutralize half of Europe militarily. It will not succeed, which does not mean that Putin will not try," the Polish diplomat stated.
