U.S., Ukrainian representatives set to meet in Saudi Arabia next week

That is according to U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, Sky News reports, as cited by Ukrinform.

Witkoff confirmed that the meeting will take place in Saudi Arabia and will focus on achieving an initial ceasefire and laying the groundwork for a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine.

Witkoff added that President Donald Trump perceived President Volodymyr Zelensky's letter wich is “as a really positive first step.”

The meeting is expected to take place either in Riyadh or Jeddah.

Meanwhile, President Zelensky wrote on social media X: "Meanwhile, Ukrainian and American teams have resumed work, and we hope that next week we will have a meaningful meeting."

According to Axios, citing two sources familiar with the matter, the talks are scheduled for March 11 in Riyadh. The meeting will include: U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, White House National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, and Head of the Ukrainian President’s Office Andrii Yermak.

The meeting was arranged on Wednesday during a phone call between Waltz and Yermak, according to one of the sources.

Notably, this will be the first high-level meeting between Ukraine and the U.S. following last week's public confrontation between Trump and Zelensky in the Oval Office.

This meeting follows a similar U.S.-Russia discussion in Riyadh two weeks ago, which notably excluded representatives from Ukraine and Europe.
