Britain sees Ukraine aid as opportunity to understand whether country is ready for war – opinion

The UK has a serious problem with rearmament, because when the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine began in February last year, the UK Ministry of Defense made this review: how it all affected the defense capabilities of their country.

The country has decided to make even more Challenger 3 tanks.

Yehor Brailian, candidate of historical sciences, and analyst at the Detector Media Research Center, stated this on the FREEDOM TV channel.

“For Britain, helping Ukraine is still an opportunity to understand whether the country is ready for war. Because now war is not only about the battlefield, it is also about cyberspace, about space, about many other dimensions,” he said.

Brailian said that assistance to Ukraine provided by the United Kingdom in 2022 amounted to 2.3 billion pounds, and approximately the same amount of assistance was provided in 2023.

“Britain wants to be more active in the Black Sea region, it is very active in the Baltic region. Yes, it may not have many resources like the United States, but still Britain wants to invest in it. It is very important for us to build common projects. That is, not only to thank the British government and the British people for their support for Ukraine, but also to think about where we are moving next, because, unfortunately, this war is for a long time, and Russia is waging this war not only against Ukraine, but also against NATO,” the analyst said.

He identified three main strategic directions for cooperation between the UK and Ukraine.

“It is a navy because Britain is, first and foremost, a naval state. The second area is cybersecurity. And the third area is strategic communication. Our Ukrainian military is training in Britain as part of Operation Interflex, which began in June last year. More than 30,000 people have already completed training. There they are taught not only how to shoot or use modern weapons, but also some general disciplines so that the military can communicate with each other within the unit. It is very important. And strategic communication is very important in reforming the Ukrainian army, since we want to become a member of NATO,” Brailian said.

As previously reported, the United Kingdom and Ukraine want to sign an agreement on support for naval forces.
