The Republic of Korea will continue providing humanitarian and non-lethal military assistance and equipment only to support Ukraine in its struggle against Russian armed aggression.

The relevant statement was made by Spokesperson for South Korea’s Defense Ministry Jeon Ha-kyu at a briefing, following the visit by President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk Yeol to Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports, referring to Yonhap.

“There is no change in the government's position that South Korea does not provide lethal weapons,” Jeon Ha-kyu said.

On Saturday, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv and agreed to provide the country with a package of security, humanitarian and reconstruction assistance, titled ‘Ukraine Peace and Solidarity Initiative’.

Seoul recently sent portable mine detectors and protective suits in its latest batch of military supplies to support Ukraine.

Last year, South Korea also sent three batches of non-lethal military assistance to Ukraine, including first aid kits, medicine, gas masks, tents, bulletproof vests and food for field troops.
