The foreign ministers of the Group of Seven (G7) nations at a meeting in Japan intend to adopt a communique demanding that Russia immediately and unconditionally withdraw its troops from Ukraine.

That's according to Japan's public broadcaster NHK, which saw a draft of a communique to be issued by the G7 foreign ministers, Ukrinform reports.

According to the document, the ministers are aiming to condemn Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine in the strongest possible terms. They also intend to emphasize their resolve to continue supporting Ukraine for as long as it takes, express support for the efforts of the UN and other countries to find ways to end the war, and call on third parties to stop supplying weapons and other assistance for Russia's war, in order to close loopholes in sanction efforts.

The draft strongly condemns Russia for using disinformation to gain support for its aggression against Ukraine. It says access to quality and trustworthy information is key.

The document says the ministers remain seriously concerned about the situation in the East and South China seas, and strongly oppose any unilateral attempts to change the status quo by force or coercion. The draft reaffirms the importance of peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait.

The G7 foreign ministers are scheduled to meet from April 16 in the town of Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture, central Japan.
