During a meeting with the IAEA Director General in Bucharest, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba said that Russia must withdraw from the Zaporizhzhia NPP to restore nuclear safety and security.

“I started my visit to Bucharest with meeting IAEA Secretary General Rafael Mariano Grossi. We discussed the situation at the Zaporizhzhia NPP, including security of the Ukrainian personnel. I reiterated that Russia must withdraw from ZNPP to restore nuclear safety and security,” Kuleba posted on Twitter.

In turn, Grossi added that the IAEA will strengthen its presence in all Ukraine’s nuclear power plants.

“I also confirmed that IAEA will strengthen its presence in all Ukraine’s NPPs to protect its energy infrastructure,” he wrote after the meeting with Kuleba.

As reported, Oleksandr Starukh, Head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, stated that the Russian army uses the Zaporizhzhia NPP as a military base. Positions were set up, trenches were dug, and mines were laid along the plant’s perimeter.

On November 24, IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi reported progress in negotiations on the creation of a physical and nuclear safety zone around the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
