Russia will agree to ceasefire when it is one step away from defeat - Kuleba

Russia is now focused on the war and will agree to a ceasefire only when it is one step away from its defeat in the war against Ukraine.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said this at a briefing after his participation in the World Economic Forum, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"We agree that a ceasefire is necessary, but I give you a 100% guarantee that when Russia agrees to a ceasefire, it will be the moment when it is one step away from its defeat in the war. And they will agree to a ceasefire for the sole purpose of escaping their defeat in the war, and before that the war will continue," he said.

Kuleba added that Kyiv sincerely welcomes any efforts leading to a diplomatic solution. At the same time, the minister stressed that given the situation on the ground and an analysis of the Kremlin's decisions, Russia is focused on the war, rather than diplomacy.

Kuleba said earlier on May 25 that Ukraine would not make any concessions to Putin, because the strategy of pacifying him from 2014 to the beginning of the full-scale invasion had already failed and has no chance of success in the future.
